Lt Ebenezer⁴ Ayer (Capt Samuel³, Cornet Peter², Capt John¹ Ayers) (#23214) was born in Haverhill, Essex, MA 18 Feb 1704/5.⁽⁵²⁸⁾ Ebenezer died 3 Mar 1762/3 in Salem, Rockingham, NH, at 58 years of age.⁽⁵²⁹⁾ age 57 yrs His body was interred aft 3 Mar 1762/3 in Salem, Rockingham, NH, Old Cemetery - Salem Centre.⁽⁵³⁰⁾ "Here lies ye body of Lieut. Ebenezer Ayr. He departed this life March ye 3, 1762 (1763), aged 57 years." On the foot stone is "Lieut. Ebenezer Ayer 1763."

He married twice. He married Susannah Kimball 29 Mar 1726.⁽⁵³¹⁾ (Susannah Kimball is #23271.) Susannah was the daughter of Henry Kimball and Mary Wyatt. Susannah died 26 Sep 1749 in Salem, Rockingham, NH.⁽⁵³²⁾ Note: Granville Hough says she d abt 1651

He married Elizabeth (Ayer) by 1751.⁽⁵³³⁾ (Elizabeth (Ayer) is #23297.) Elizabeth was born 1715.⁽⁵³⁴⁾ Elizabeth died 2 Jan 1786 in Salem, Rockingham, NH, at 70 years of age.⁽⁵³⁵⁾ Her body was interred in Salem, Rockingham, NH, Old Cemeter - Salem Centre.⁽⁵³⁶⁾ In the old cemetery at Salem Centre, NH is a stone inscribed as follows: "In memory of Elizabeth, relict of Mr. Ebenezer Ayer. She died Jan. 2, 1786, aged 71."

He resided in Methuen, Essex, MA.⁽⁵³⁷⁾ Ebenezer's will was probated in Salem, Rockingham, NH, 11 Apr 1763.⁽⁵³⁸⁾ Abstract from The Ayer Genealogy by Perley, p 15:

Ebenezer Ayer4, b Haverhill 18 Feb 1704/5. He was a yeoman and lived in Methuen until the State line was fixed, after which his house was included in Salem, NH. He m Susannah Kimball 29 Mar 1726; she d 26 Sep 1749. Administration was granted on his estate 11 Apr 1763. Children b in Methuen:

p 24-25: Lt. Ebenezer Ayer m2 Elizabeth (?). His 1st wife Susannah d at Salem, NH 19 Sep 1749. He was of Salem, NH after 1736, though their children, after that date, were recorded in Methuen; some, however, were baptized in Salem. His grave is in the old cemetery of Salem, and the stone is inscribed as follows:

"Here lies ye body of Lieut. Ebenezer Ayr. He departed this life March ye 3, 1762 (1763), aged 57 years." On the foot stone is "Lieut. Ebenezer Ayer 1763."

The son Ebenezer m widow Hannah (Plaisted) Scammon in Pepperellboro, ME 4 Jul 1754; and had 6 or 7 children.

The son Peter m1 Rebecca (?) and had 7 or more children, m2 widow Sarah Jenkins of Pepperellboro.

The son Timothy m1 abt 1766 Elizabeth (?) and had 10 children, m2 23 Apr 1798 widow Elizabeth (Scammon) Moody of Pepperellboro; by whom he had no issue.

The son Joseph m Eunice Clark in Pearsontown (Standish), ME 3 Oct 1775.

The son Isaiah m Hannah (?) had one child and d at Salem 23 Oct 1772. His tombstone says "Sept. 25, 1772, aet. 23 yrs."

Other children were born as follows:

Ebenezer, b in Haverhill 22 Mar 1727; was a major; and lived in Pepperellboro (Saco); served in the Rev War and immediately after its close disappeared and was never heard from.

William, b Salem NH 23 May 1752 Elizabeth b Salem, NH 28 Sep 1753 Samuel b Salem NH 1 Sep 1754; m Anna Currier 17 Jan 1782 Philip b Salem, NH 3 Nov 1758 John, bap Haverhill 16 Mar 1741/2 John, bap Haverhill 12 Oct 1760.

In the old cemetery at Salem Centre, NH is a stone inscribed as follows: "In memory of Elizabeth, relict of Mr. Ebenezer Ayer. She died Jan. 2, 1786, aged 71." (Charles M. Ayer, Grand Rapids, MI).

Lt Ebenezer Ayer and Susannah Kimball had the following children:
