The license further contains the Minister's Return of Marriage stating that Clement and Barbara were married on 2 Jun 1870 in Wheeling, WV by Nicolaus Grusch. Since Clement and Barbara were, by family tradition, Roman Catholic, it is assumed they were married in a Catholic Church (to be determined). copy of certificate in my possession.
1900 USC says 4 children, 4 living; however, this is in error as proven by VRs at Ohio County courthouse in Wheeling, WV
(Barbara Heil is #1678.)

Glazier and P. William Filby, published by Scholarly Resources, Inc., Wilmington, DE (FHL E184.G3, G38 1988 V.21, pp 234-238) shows the passengers of the ship "Bremen" that sailed from Bremen, arriving in New York on 13 July 1868, with a Clemens Ackermann (pg 237), age 21, male, occupation jnr [joiner???], from the province of PR[eusin???], Village 000, destination USA. This could not be our Clements - not the right age or place of departure.
According to family tradition, Clemens could have worked on the railroad in Baltimore, OH. This could account for the fact that I cannot find him on certain census lists. The only questions is when was he there???? Also check residence of Clemens Ackerman blacksmith at 7th and Gum Alley or was this where he worked???
Highly possible that he and Casper Ackermann were brothers; although I have no proof of this.
