This website is dedicated in loving
memory of my Grandfather
Raymond Ardron
Hello
and welcome to the website concerned with all things to do with the ARDRON family
name. Development and expansion will occur as time permits. See CONTENTS below for individual page links.
Are
you an ARDRON or have you ARDRONs in your family? If so I would like to hear
from you. Email Simon@ardron.org.uk
I am especially interested in photos of Ardrons that you may be able to provide
copies of.
Please
be aware these pages are a slow work-in-progress BUT
things do change as new evidence comes to light (genealogy is never ending...)
so please keep coming back. If you spot any mistakes please let me know.
I believe the events have historical primary evidence or have been given
by other contributors to whom I'm eternally grateful, but typing errors
can occur!
Thank
you to those Distant and not so Distant Relatives who have contacted me with
info especially: Joanne Owston (nee Ardron), Dean (William Dean) Ardron, Mat
Ardron (for a very large number of GRO references), Darren Ardron, Jack Ardron,
Evelyn Ardron (nee Lundhild).
Do
all Ardrons' have larger than average noses and lack of hair in later years?
(at least in the male line)? I pose this question only because my limited
research would seem to suggest a definite link. Your thoughts and comments
would be of interest.
Interesting Facts:
a) The oldest record I have come across is for the year 1543 with the christening of one William Ardron on 25
October at Saint Petrock,
b) Walter "Wally" Ardron is the
record goal scorer in a season for both Rotherham United with 38 in 1946/47 and
Nottingham Forest Football Club with 36 in 1950/51.
c) That there is a school in Huddersfield called the
d) As of 2006 there is now a residential road named ARDRON WALK in
Rawmarsh.
e) On New Year's Day 1855 The Times reported on the murder
of Harriet Ardron, aged 21 in Thorpe Healey,

The pages below are for Ardron’s on my tree that are known to have had children and expand on the basic tree information. They can be accessed either by using the hyper-links below or those on the tree itself. Hyper-links throughout the website are shown in underlined blue. Where a person is not known to have had children, their details will appear on the page of their father or sometimes mother. The source of the information is given where possible and this is shown in italic red after the event described. I have also started to try and give some historical context to the lives and times of the Ardron relatives involved by describing important British and World events in bold green. In addition to those facts that I believe to be correct there are a number of “maybes”. That is something that is quite possible but I haven't been able to confirm it. In these cases I have posed a question such as "Did he marry in ...". These “maybes” are shown in bold orange and surrounded by a box. If anybody is able to confirm or deny these please let me know. |
