On the 1881 Census (3 April) he was aged 18, a stove grate blacker ironmonger, living with his parents at 70 Charles Street, Swinton. (PRO ref RG11 piece 4682 folio 115 pg 34)

Aaron married Annie Howland at the parish church of Wath after Banns on 14 September 1884. He was aged 21 and an ironworker. His father was a labourer. Annie was aged 22. Her father was Leonard Howland, a labourer. Both Aaron and Annie were of Swinton. The witnesses were William Pedley and Leonard Howland. (GRO cert MXA906893 + GRO ref Rotherham 9c 789 Sep 1884) It should be noted that on the copy of the certificate issued by the GRO, they appear to have misread Aaron's father as 'Harry'.

She was born in 1862 in Hovingham, the daughter of Leonard Howland, a labourer. (Based on marriage cert + location on 1901 Census) GRO REF??

On the 1881 Census (3 April) Annie was living at the residence of Charles Hattersley, a stove grate manufacturer employing 120 men and boys, at "Rockleigh House", 147 Wath Road, Swinton:

He was baptised on 6 June 1886 in Swinton. His father was shown as a foundry man. (APR)

She was baptised on 17 October 1890 in Swinton at the same time as her sister Emily. Her father was now a stove maker. (APR)
