LARSEN (Denmark)

NOTE:    Research on this family is ongoing, therefore some research notes have been included here for anyone who wants to help pick up the pieces and follow a loose end.

LARS NIELSEN and family of Vejby (Unnerup), Frederiksborg, Denmark;
His daughter MAREN LARSEN and her husbands Hans Jensen and Jens Jorgensen/ James Johnson
all immigrants to the Utah in the USA
* the multiple surnames listed above is due to the name changes the Danish emigrants went through as they moved from the Danish patronymic custom to American surname custom, and then anglicized their names. Jens Larsen adopted his father's surname "Jorgensen" upon his arrival in the U.S. and then anglicized his name to James Johnson.  Maren Larsdatter, or Larsen, adopted her father's surname "Nielsen," upon her arrival in the U.S. Her first husband's surname was Jensen; she later married Jens Jorgensen; hence -- Larsen, Nielsen, Jensen, Jorgensen and Johnson can all be found as her surnames.
