FIRST GENERATION

1. William IMUS(1) (2)(3) (4)(5) (photo) was born in May 1739 in London, England. He owned land at first in New Milford, Litchfield County, Connecticut in the 1760s, and between 1770 and 1835 in Arlington, Bennington, Vermont. (6) He was imprisoned by the patriots in 1776, but later he served in the militia in Arlington.(7) He signed a will in 1825, in Arlington, Bennington, Vermont. (8) He died and was buried in Mar 1835 in St. James cem., Arlington. Gravestone, St. James, Arlington, Vermont:

"In memory of Wm. Imus
who died March 20, 1835
in the 96th year of his age

Dust thou art, and unto
dust shall thou return."

He was married to Lucy BUCK (daughter of Joseph BUCK and Ann or Annis GOULD) about 1770 in New Milford, Litchfield, Connecticut.(2) [William & Lucy Imus sell to Abel Hine, 10 acres inherited by them from "our honoured father Joseph Buck", for £15, 24 Jan 1771] Lucy BUCK(9) (10) (photo) was born on 18 Feb 1747 in New Milford, Litchfield, Connecticut. (11) She died and was buried in Apr 1801 in St. James cemetery, Arlington, Vermont. (12) Gravestone, St. James, Arlington, Vermont:

"Lucy, consort of Wm. Imus
April 4, 1801 in
the 55th year of her age

Vain world farewell to you
Heaven is my native air:
I bid my friends a short adieu
Impatient to be there."

He was married to Anna RISING (daughter of James RISING Jr and Elizabeth LAFLIN) in 1802 in White Creek, Washington, New York. (3) Anna RISING was born on 31 Jan 1770 in Suffield, Hartford, Connecticut. She died before 1857.
