Third great grandfather - Augustinus (Augustini) Hanck
Augustini Hanck (3rd great grandfather) took up farming in the Ottersheim area. He would have two wives during his life time and contribute many children to the third generation of the Hanck family in Ottersheim. His wife was Maria Elisabetha Job, daughter of Joannes Theodore Job and Maria Christina Müller. They wedded on January 3rd 1826 and had four children:
Augustini's wife, Maria Elizabetha, died unexpectedly at age 37. Last rites were performed on September 7th 1837. He took a second wife within 9 months. He married Maria Barbara Merdian on May 1st 1838. Maria Barbara was the daughter of Conrad Joseph Merdian and Catharina Walck. Augustini and Maria Barbara would have five children:
Joannes Josephus, baptized on May 30th 1841. As an adult, he would marry Margaretha Reichling on February 10th, 1877. Margaretha was the daughter of Joahnn and Barbara Reichling of Ottersheim.
Joannes Georgius was baptized on September 14th 1844
Eva Margaritha was baptized on May 10th 1846. She would marry Joannis Georgus Bischoff of Ottersheim on August 17th, 1871. Joannis George was the son of Johannis Bischoff and Margaretha Kroeper.
Anna Maria was baptized on December 20th, 1850.
Four of Augustini's children, Anna Maria, Mary Elizabeth, Conradus (Conrad J) and Antonius (Antone) are known to have emigrated to the United States leaving Ottersheim at different times as documented (reference p. 103-110) by Fritz Steegmüller, published in 1968. All four initially settled in and around the city of Henry which is located in Marshall County, Illinois.
Augustini died at age 75 and was last rites were performed on March 9th 1875.
