- Named after area in Prussia, the kingdom of Bavaria, where many of its residents came from.
- Bavaria had a post office from 1905 until May 1, 1921.
- Approximate locations:
- The southern part of sections 33 and 34, T33N, R9E (Summit) and the northern part of sections 3 and 4, T32N, R9E (Vilas).
- Intersection of County Highways "H" and "J."
- Present Town Hall, three miles north NW 1/4, NW 1/4, Sec. 22, T33N, R9E.
