- Village
- Community was formed in the early 1880's. Drexell was the first name for the village and later was changed to Kent. When the Milwaukee, Lake Shore & Western railroad laid their track to Kent in 1886 they called the village Drexell, in honor of a Mr. Drexell, who was an official of the railroad. The Drexell name is still found on old railroad maps. Sometime later the name was changed to Kent.
- Location: The center of the community would be the intersection of sections 23, 24, 25, and 26 of T32N, R12E or the intersection of State Highway 52 and Old E Road. Most of the buildings were located in the NE 1/4 of Sec. 26 and the SW 1/4 of Sec. 24. (45° 14.11'N, -88° 56.93'W)
- The first saw mill was erected at Kent by Henry Sherry of Neenah, Wisconsin. However, some sources suggest the first mill was built by Mr. Weed and burned in 1888. Mr. Sherry moved the mill to Shawano County in 1895. In 1898 the Antigo Manufacturing Company operated a mill there until it burned about 1902.
- Kent had a sawmill, planing mill, general store and hotel.
- Kent had a post office from 1890 until 1925.
- Only a few foundations of the town's buildings remain today.
