Samuel Castle3 #256/257 was born 1704, Woodbury, Fairfield Co., Conn. to Isaac CASTLE2 and Sarah ADAMS. He was bp there 9 Aug 1706/7.He married Martha SEELEY, dau of John SEELEY and Rebecca SANFORD, abt 1724, probably in Waterbury, as that is where the 1st. child was born. Martha was b 30 June 1706, BP 7 July 1706 and died 28 Mar 1787.
Samuel was a corporal in the French and Indian War in 1757, Capt. Wait Hinman's Co. of Woodbury, for the Relief of Fort William Henry. He was commissioned by the General Assembly to be Captain of 3rd. Co. or trainband ( group of men trained to protect the town from Indian raids)in the town of Woodbury May 1754.
He resided in Woodbury and Roxbury, Conn. He and Martha were on the membership list of the 1st. Cong'l. Church of Woodbury on the 2 Feb 1735. He died 17 Nov 1781. He made a will Samuel(3)Will dated 2 Apr 1772 which was probated and named the children listed below:

Samuel Castle4 #128/129 was born 16 Feb 1734, Woodbury, Fairfield, Conn. Litchfield Co. was not created until 1751. He was BP 31 Mar 1734 at 1st. Cong'l. Ch. at Woodbury.He married 1756 or 57, Abigail NORTHROP, dau of Dea. Benjamin NORTHROP and Sarah PLATT. Abigail was b 9 Jan 1732/4 at Newtown, Fairfield Co., Conn. Samuel was named in his father, Samuel3's will as receiving 1 acre of Jack's Brook adjoining the land he then owned plus the family house, barn and homestead he lived in at that time in Roxbury. Samuel, also, may have been in Capt. Wait Hinman's Co. of the French & Indian War 1757. Unable to tell for sure if this Samuel was he or his father, perhaps both.
Samuel and wife, Abigail, were affiliated with Roxbury 1st. Cong'l. Ch. Abigail was admitted there in 1797. Samuel is listed as being in the "choris" in 1809. He was executor to his son, Oliver's, will by Oliver's request in 1812.
Samuel lived in Woodbury all of his life, appearing many times throughout town records and in the 1790 and 1800 Census. He died there the 15 Nov 1813 at age of 79. He is buried in the Old South Cem., Roxbury, with Abigail on what once was Castle Road, now Squire Rd. In his will,Samuel(4)Will 1781, he names grandson's Amos and Oliver CASTLE. His will is in the Woodbury Probate Office, V8,p73.
