Frank Marion Castle8 #8/9 was born 2 Aug 1852 Hartland, Niagara Co., NY. His parents were Ezra CASTLE and Harriet OLDS. He appears as a child with his parents on the 1855,1860,1869,1870 and 1875 census' in Hartland and Johnson's Creek, Niagara Co., NY. He married Harriet M. OLDS #9, his first cousin, dau. of Ransom Spencer OLDS and Amy JENKINS. Ransom was his mother's brother. They married 3 July 1878 in Hudson, Lenawee Co., MI. Harriet was already residing there, having married a man by the name of Ira Chandler, whom she later divorced, plus her family lived there also.Frank bought land in Isabella Co., MI, 26 July 1878. It was on the Redbud Indian Reservation. When Harriet became pregnant with their first child in 1880, they moved back to Hillsdale Co., MI. Harriet was sent by coach and Frank walked their cow all the way back from Mr. Pleasant to Somerset, MI, approximately 130 miles.
In 1880/81 they bought an acre of land in Wheatland, Hillsdale Co., MI. All three of their sons were born there. In 1892 they sold this land and moved into Hillsdale City, MI and appear there on the census records until they appear in Jackson 1910 census. They lived in Jackson until they died. While living in Hillsdale City, Frank built Harriet a large,beautiful home. He was a carpenter by trade. He was a member of the I.O.O.F. both in Hillsdale and Jackson. Harriet died 5 June 1927 at age 85. She was an Eastern Star member in the 1920's. She, also, used to write poetry for several magazines at that time. She used to write them in an old accounting book of her father's. Harriet is buried at Aldrich Cemetery, in Somerset, Hillsdale Co., MI. After Harriet died, Frank went to live with his son George, he became very deaf over the remaining years, moved in with his son, Lew, and he died 15 Feb 1941 in Reading, Hillsdale Co., MI. He is buried in Aldrich Cemetery in Somerset with Harriet.
