GORCZYCA |
DZIEKONSKI |
| ? GORCZYCA and wife
had 2 sons,
Burton (b: 1885 in Warsaw, Poland), and John (b: Between 1886 and 1898). The mother died giving birth to John. The 3 males emigrated from Warsaw, Poland, to Patterson, New Jersey in 1899, when Burton was 14. |
? DZIEKONSKI and his wife Josephine had Sophia in Lithuania in 1890. She then lived with her grandparents in Warsaw, Poland, until her parents took her to Patterson, New Jersey in 1899 when she was 9. Her parents had 6 more kids: Edna, Victoria, Kate, Edward, Tommy, and John. (What a coincidence!) |
Burton Gorczyca eventually married Sophia Dziekonski in 1907 in Patterson, New Jersey. He and his wife then moved to Cleveland, Ohio, where he became a Butcher and owned a Grocery Store. They had 6 children there. One day Sophia got sick, so the doctor suggested they move out to the country, so they moved to Tughill, NY. She had 7 more children for a total of 13. They couldn’t live only from farming so they made illegal whiskey (moonshine--during prohibition About 1927-1930) and sold it to lumber jacks. Burton died in Glenfield, New York. She outlived him.
