If you know anything about this family Maurice French, of New Zealand, would love to hear from you. He would like to trace the family of John Borthwick, whose son David was born in Moffat, Dumfriesshire in 1818.
I would love to know whether John Borthwick's family were connected in any way to mine. My great-great-great grandfather, William Murray Borthwick, was born in Moffat in 1782. He and his brother were both baptised there (Alexander in 1795) and later nieces and nephews were married there.
