South Carolina, Ga., AL. Andrews/Anders/Andres/Andress/Anderson line: SAMUEL P. ANDREWS/ANDERS (b. abt 1799 S.C. d. 1878 DeWitt Co.Tx. m. Elizabeth Shirley (Shurling, Shirling) 1820) Wilkes Co., Ga-entered Tx 1835 (Montgomery County, Texas-in DeWitt county by 1844) with wife "Riddley" & children William, Susan, Isaac, Harvey, & Elizabeth. Children b. in Tx: Stephen, Malinda, Ellen, John W. & James. "Riddley" d. Tx 1878 childbirth of James. From Tx census records Sam'l b. S.C. with 1st five children in Alabama remaining 5 in Texas.
Have heavily researched southeastern N.C. & have found Andrews/Anders/Anderson Andres/Andress families that closely resemble Samuel's by their names: i.e.William, Isaac, Elizabeth, Stephen, John & James as well as Samuel. Have not had success in finding my Samuel's father with proof to my satisfaction. Found settlement of an Isaac Andrews/Andress in Pike Co., AL. with Samuel, Stephen, & others as heirs (d. 1844) but no definite proof that this Samuel was my Samuel.
Found a Samuel in Monroe Co., AL. in 1830 census with ages of children that could fit my Samuel, but upon having Monroe County records checked-nothing was found-not even land records except being listed on the Census return. The Andrews/Andress families in Pike & Monroe Counties were related, & did come from North Carolina via Georgetown District & then Sumter Co.,South Carolina. Have been working from "both" ends, & feel have narrowed in down considerably but to no avail.
