ANDRE FAMILY BAND - NAMPA, IDAHO - CIRCA 1920
L to R: Billy, Pete, Georgie, "Living", Elreno & Charles "Ed" Andre

Ed and Amanda migrated to Nampa,
Idaho around 1898 with two other
families; George & Mary C.(AMOUREUX)
MAYSE and William & Mary (RIBEAU)
AMOUREUX. According to family history,
William "Babe" was a cousin to Amanda.
Although we have not been able to
confirm this family connection yet,
these three families together left
behind many of their friends and
families in search of a better life.

Ed learned to play the fiddle when he
was very young. Dr. Hertich taught him
to play and Ed played in two bands in
Ste. Genevieve.

There were very few  people of
African-American descent in Idaho
at the turn of the century

All the Andre children
played instruments. The Andre band
would travel around Nampa and Boise
performing during the 1920's.

shy of her 110 birthday when she died.
