11. Joseph APPLEBY III was born about 1732 in Eastchester, NY. He died about 1792. "Washington had Headquarters at his house in 1781 campaign." --Davis, "Westchester Patriarchs."

He was married to Rachel VAN WART (daughter of Abraham VAN WART and Wyntie CRANKHEIT) on 30 Oct 1757. Rachel VAN WART was born on 17 Mar 1739 in Philipsburgh, Westchester County, NY. She was baptized on 10 Apr 1739 in Reformed Church, Sleepy Hollow, Tarrytown, NY. She died on 20 Sep 1771 in Philipsburgh, Westchester County, NY. It was in this generation that the surname changed from "van Weert" to "van Wart" (@1750). Joseph APPLEBY III and Rachel VAN WART had the following children:
