George Field Herchmer [Parents] 1 was born in 1849. He married 2 Winifred Margaret Riddell on 20 Dec 1871 in St. Paul's Church, Montreal, QC, Canada. The marriage ended in divorce.They were divorced on 10 Jun 1877 in PCG2A1, and debates of the Senate 16 May 1887. George was employed as Medical Doctor. Engaged with the North West Mounted Police as a constable on July 6, 1875 at Winnipeg. Promoted to the rank of Staff Sergant to serve as Hospital Steward on June 1, 1877. He was discharged at the expiration of his term of service at Fort Saskatchewan on July 6, 1881. His conduct during service was listed as "very good". At the time of his discharge he was 32 years of age, 5'7½" in height with black hair, brown eyes and dark complexion. He listed his next intended place of residence as Fort Saskatchewan.

G.F. Herchmer was a brother of Commissioner Lawrence W. Herchmer (April 1, 1886 - July 31, 1900) and Assistant Commissioner W.M. Herchmer.

Obituary Notice for Helen Mary Nicholson Gault, B.SC (P & OT), LLD. 1912 to 2001
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Friday April 27, 2001 at 10:30 am at Christ Church Cathedral St. Catherine St. West (Between University & Union Sts.) Montreal, Quebec. Born at Stafford Essex, England, Dr. Helen Gault studied Physiotherapy at St. Thomas's Hospital, London, England. She came to Canada in 1946 as Director of the Physiotherapy program at McGill University. Dr. Gault has been instrumental not only in maintaining McGill's leading position in the field of Rehabilitation, but constantly strived to increase the academic and professional standards. She introduced Occupational Therapy in 1950; upgraded the programs of PT and OT from Diploma to Bachelor level; developed the first B.Sc. (P & OT) program in Canada in 1954 and instituted the first M.Sc. program in Rehabilitation in 1972. Before her retirement in 1978 she was actively encouraging the development of a Ph.D. program in rehabilitation which became a reality at McGill in 1988.
