Benjamin Ibbotson [Parents] was born on 13 May 1820 in Versailles, France. He died on 18 Jul 1882 in at his late residence, 177 Bluery Street, Montreal, Canada. He married Alice McCormack on 25 Sep 1848. Benjamin was employed as Government Emigration agent in 1873/1882. He resided in 1882 in 177 Bluery Street, Montreal, Canada. He served in the military Hochelaga Light Infantry.
Obituary of BENJAMIN IBBOTSON.
It is with sincere regret that we have this morning to chronicle the demise of Mr. B. Ibbotson, Government Emigration agent for the Province of Quebec, which occurred yesterday afternoon, after a brief illness., at his late residence, 177 Bluery Street. The deceased gentleman owing to a great influx of immigrants, had been out in all weathers and at all hours; he at last caught cold, which culminated in brain fever. Mr. Ibbotson was born at Versailles, France, May 23rd. 1820, and was six years of age when he came to this country. He was educated in Montreal and resided In the city about fifty years. The family have a military record. Mr. Ibbotson's father, Captain Henry Ibbotson, 103rd. British Regiment Of foot, came to Canada during the war of 1812-13-14, and was one of those hardy veterans who marched from Halifax to Quebec on snowshoes during midwinter, a feat mentioned in complimentary terms by the public journals of that day. Mr. B. Ibbotson's brother Lt. Col. W.E. Ibbotson, late 53rd. Sherbrooke Battalion, is well known as an old volunteer. Mr. Ibbotson, Clerk of the Recorder's Court, is also a brother of the deceased. Mr. Ibbotson was for many years connected with the Hochelaga Light Infantry, and in Dec 1861 it raised No. 6 Company. He was appointed acting Major in 1865, and was out" during the Trent affair and subsequent Fenian troubles. The appointment of Government Emigration Agent for the Province of Quebec was given him in 1873. The work of the Emigration Department has been carried on during his father's illness by Mr. H.R. Ibbotson, his son, and is now going on as usual under the superintendence of that gentleman.

He died on 5 Mar 1939. M xii Arthur Frank Ibbotson was born on 14 Oct 1866. He died on 31 May 1912.
