Capt. Brian Peck piloted the airplane carrying the first AirMail delivery of mail in Canada. Flying a J-N-4 he departed from the Bois Franc field in Montreal on June 24 1918, and completed the journey at the Leaside Aerodrome in Toronto on a flight which took six hours with brief stops in for refueling in Kingston and Deseronto. Capt Peck's accomplishment was commerated with the issue, in 1968, of two postal cancellation dies, one for Montreal and one for Toronto and in 1958 the Post Master-General of the day, William Hamilton, unveiled a plaque at the Leaside in metropolitan Toronto.
