Caroline died sometime between August 6th and September 4th 1900. She left a will as follows:

This is the last Will and Testament
- of me -
Caroline Chinn of Charlton Marshall in the county of Dorset - Widow. I appoint my friends Thomas Ford ad Tom Joyner both of Charlton Marshall aforesaid Executors of this my Will. I give and bequeath to my stepdaughter Peninnah Ford the sum of £50 now standing to my credit at the Southampton Branch of the Wilts. and Dorset Bank Limited absolutely subject to her paying thereout my doctor's bill and my funeral expenses. I give and bequeath to my nephew Harry Sturgess my ten preference shares of £5 each in J.G. Fay & Co. Limited absolutely. I direct the money standing to my credit in the Post Office Savings Bank to be divided as follows. To my nephew Sidney Sturgess my neices Caroline Powell and Fanny Rowland, my stepdaughter Elizabeth Britton and my stepson George Chinn the sum of £20 each and the residue of such money in the Post Office Savings Bank I give and bequeath to my stepdaughter Peninnah Ford and my niece Alice Sturgess to be equally divided between them. I give to my niece Alice Sturgess my gold watch and locket and to my stepdaughter Peninnah Ford my gold chain. All the rest and residue of my estate both real (if any) and personal I give devise and bequeath to my said stepdaughter Peninnah Ford and my niece Alice Sturgess subject to the payment of any debts I may owe at my decease and my testamentary expenses to be equally divided between them abosolutely. I revoke all former wills made by me. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my had this 6th day of August 1900.
