William Chinn [Parents] was born on 19 Nov 1810 in Hinton St. Mary, Dorset, UK. He married Charlotte Fryer. William was baptized 1 on 19 Nov 1810 in Hinton St. Mary, Dorset, UK. He was of the Anglican faith. He was employed as Butcher.
Other marriages:Read, Ezit
, Mary
Fryer, Charlotte
(P182 RE4) Baptism & Burials recorded in Archives of Hinton St. Mary 1759-1812 [baptisms continued] verified by Brian B. Chinn and by his agent Mrs. Wienstock.
The married life of William appears to be somewhat confusing. On the 27 Feb 1832 it is recorded that William of Hinton St. Mary married Ezit Read of Sturminster Newton at St. Mary's Church Sturminster Newton. As issue George is baptised in 1836; however on his baptism there is no mention of his mother's name.
By 1851 William has the birth of a son recorded at Bashley Milton (near Lymington Hampshire) and the father is listed as William, a butcher, and the mother as Charlotte Fryer. Because her maiden name is used it is unlikely that they were married at the time.
Later, it is recorded in Stour Provost that a daughter Alice is born to William, a butcher, and Mary - all of them being from Stour Provost, Dorset.
Finally the family is recorded in the 1861 Census of Poole (Parish of St. James - Northwest Ward) as William of Hinton St. Mary, butcher, residing in New Street, aged 50 wife Charlotte of Hants Lymington Hampshire, and their son Harry aged 10 of Hants Lymington Hampshire, and daughter Alice aged 7 of Stour Provost. (Film RG9/1339) - Emun.Dist.1 no.24. The same census recorded that John Cure resided with them as a Butcher's Shop-boy, aged 17.
By all of this it may be presumed that Charlotte eventually married William. It is unknown as to what happened to Ezit Read and her son George, or to Mary the mother of Alice.
Charlotte Fryer was born in 1828 in Hants, Lymington, UK. She married William Chinn.
Other marriages:Chinn, William
Charlotte may not have married William initially. The son Harry was described as being the son of William, a butcher, and Charlotte Fryer; therefore they may have been un-married at the time.
Recorded in the 1861 Census of Poole (Parish of St. James - Northwest Ward) as Charlotte of Hants, Lymington, residing in New Street, aged 33 wife of William mother of Harry and Alice.
Charlotte is presumed to be the step mother of Harry and Alice as there are records of Harry being the issue of a marriage between William and Charlotte Fryer; and Alice being the issue of William and Mary. It is likely however that Charlotte may be the same Charlotte Fryer, mother of Harry, William and she having finally married each other. This is supported by the 1861 census stating that the latter Charlotte was also from Hants, Lymington, Hampshire.
