Ernest Luker 1 was born 2 on 22 Jan 1919 in Barmendman, New South Wales, Australia. He died 3 in Hawks Nest, New South Wales, Australia. He married Dorene Harding. Ernest served in the military A.I.F. Libya in 1939. He served in the military Singapore (Service No. NX16707), private 2/20 Battalion in 1940.
Enlisted in the A.I.F. in 1939 and was sent to Libya, however upon being found to be under age was returned to Australia. In 1940 he re-enlisted and was sent to Singapore. Was caputred and held as prisoner of war by the Japanese in the Changi prison camp. During his confinement he lost 155 lbs (dropping from 250 lbs to only 95 lbs at the time of his release). He also volunteered for the Korean war.
As an entrepreneur he started his own small businees in the suburb of Rockdale, Sydney, Australia. He was hit by a truck while crossing Princes Highway, Rockdale, Australia. The subsequent operation placed a metal plate in his head.
He retired to Hawks Nest, New South Wales and died peacefully.
