Chinn's of Newfoundland |

The Newfoundland Chinn's of Sandy Point
and of Twillingate have not as yet been linked to the family of Hinton St.
Mary, however anecdotal evidence suggests that there may be a connection. Sandy Point is found on Bay St. George, on the west coast of Newfoundland. Today Sandy Point is deserted its last residents having passed on in 1973, but at its peak Sandy Point was one of Newfoundland's most populated regions and an important centre of the fishing trade. Twillingate is found on the northeast coast of Newfoundland, a group of islands situated in Notre Dame Bay. originally founded by the French, Twillingate sustained itself through the fishery.
