He was born October 6, 1926, in Mt. Vernon, to Russell Edger and Laura Helen (Summerville) Bebout and was graduated from Butler High School in 1943. He was a US Army veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict. For many years, Mr. Bebout was a self-employed operator of a Marathon service station and delivered fuel oil throughout the Butler area. He concluded his career working ten years for the Ohio Department of Transportation. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Butler, Bellville Masonic Lodge #376 F&AM, Robert Castor Post #5101 VFW, and Irvin Hiskey Post #535 American Legion, Bellville. John enjoyed hunting all game, but particularly bow hunting during deer season. He was a fly fisherman and golfer and in 1965 built a cabin to create his own deer camp in Tionesta, Pennsylvania. His family has many happy memories of time spent there together. Mr. Bebout is survived by his wife Eileen M. (Pfeifer) Bebout, whom he married July 6, 1948; sons and daughters-in-law, William “Bill” and Sharon Bebout, Richard “Rick” and Debbie Bebout, Samuel “Sam” Bebout, and Larry “Yogi” Bebout, all of Butler; 19 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, a brother Douglas A. Bebout preceded John in death. |
