LANTZ GENEALOGY and died in 1793 at an advanced age. The appraisal of his estate amounted to 3929 5s and 2d. His will left the home farm to Jacob, 100 acres to George, and money to the five children of Margaretha, to John and to Andrew. Jacob received most of the land for which reason he was to pay the others the moneys specified, and he was given nine years in which to make the payments. His children were: George; John; Andrew; Margaretha; and Jacob. H1 George Lantz H George Lantz, eldest son of George and Maria Lantz, was born in Shenandoah County, Virginia. He moved to Barbour County, W. Va. He married a daughter of Col. Woodford and granddaughter of Lord Howe. He was a pros- perous farmer and had six children: William; Henry; Philip; George; Joseph; and Marian. H2 John Lantz H John (Johannes) Lantz, son of George and Maria Lantz was born June 5, 1749 while the family was settled on the Monoeacy Creek. As early as 1781, he is established in Green County, Penn. He was married twice, his second wife being Barbara Waggoner. Mrs. Stella Lantz, a great grand daughter of Blacksville, W. Va., has a very elaborate pen and ink certificate recording her baptism in 1742 at Duntz- enheim (a village just south of Strasburg), her god-mother being Barbara Mennin (Mann). John Lantz accumulated a large acreage in Green County, Pa. In 1781, he was as- sessed with 450 acres. In 1785, he patented 250 acres and in 1790, 400 acres. He died Jan-Apr., 1817. He had the follow- ing children: John; Andrew; Catherine; Mary Styles; Wil- liam; George; Lewis; Jacob; Alexa@der; and Elizabeth. H3 Andrew Lantz H Andrew Lantz, son of George and Maria Lantz re- mained in Virginia with his father and brother, Jacob. He built a small cottage on Jacob's farm where he spent the latter part of his life as a hermit. He never married and although he lived to a ripe old age, he never learned the English language, which earned him the reputation of being rather queer.
