LANTZ GENEALOGY

     Lantz, who is the beginning of the George Lantz family.
         September 25, 1748, Foreigners imported in the Pa-
     tience and Margaret John Govens capton from Rotterdam
     last from Leith, Scotland.  Johannes Lantz and George
     Lantz, father of Hans George who came in October 29, 1747.
     September 15, 1749, from Zweibrucken, Nassau and Wirten-
     burg ship Phenix, John Mason capton Hans Lantz.
         October 4, 1751 ship Queen of Denmark, George Perish,
     commander from Rotterdam last from Cowes, Andres Lantz.
         October 20, 1752, ship Duke of Wirtenburg, Daniel
     Montpelier, Commander from Rotterdam last from Cowes,
     Andres Lantz.
         September 14,1758 ship Edenburg, James Russel capton
     from Rotterdam last from Portsmouth, England,.  Philip
     Lantz and Belam Lantz.
         September 23, 1766, ship Chance Charles Smith capton
     from Rotterdam last from Cowes, Martin Lantz.
         Here is an illustration of what happened after landing
     in America at the court house.  At a meeting of the board
     of Provincial Council held in Philadelphia, September 21,
     1727, one hundred and nineteen Palatinates appeared with
     their families about four hundred persons in all.  These were
     imported in the ship, William and Sarah William Hill, mas-
     ter from Rotterdam last from Dover, England, by clearance
     from the offices of his Majestic Custom there.  The said
     master being asked if he had any license from the court of
     Great Britain for the transportation of those people and
     what their intentions were in coming hither, said that he
     had no license, or allowance for their transportation, other
     than the above clearance and that he believed that they
     had designed to settle in this province.
         All male persons above sixteen did repeat and subscribe
     their names, or made their mark to the following declara-
     tion.  "We, subscribers and late inhabitants of the Palatinate
     upon the Rhine River and place adjacent have transported
     ourselves and families to this province of Pennsylvania, a
     colony subject to the crown of Great Britain, in an expecta-
     tion of finding a retreat and peaceful settlement therein do
     solemnly promise and engage that we will be faithful and
     bear true allegiance to his present Majesty, Ying George the
     second, and his successors kings of Great Britain, and will
     be faithful to the proprietors of the province, and that we
     will demean ourselves peaceable to all his Majesty's sub-
     jects and strictly observe and conform to the laws of Eng-
