Moved with parents from Prince Edward Co, VA early in life. Early member of the Sandy Creek Baptist Church (Logan/Butler Co) from before 1808 to sometime after 1812. (Church minutes) Licensed by Logan Presbytery - November 20, 1818. Ordained by Logan Presbytery - April 6, 1820.[349] Founding minister of Cumberland Presbyterian Church.[207]
Granted 100 acres at Little Muddy Creek, Butler Co, 5 Oct 1824. (KY Land Grants, Book P, p. 400. Ancestry) Later moved to Logan Co, where he taught school (son Hershel was one of the pupils).
After his father-in-law Thomas Lawrence passed away in 1835, he served as executor of the Lawrence estate.[354] |
