BINNIE REUNION SUNDAY, JUNE 1, 1953 AT TYLER CREEK PRESERVE RT. 31, DUNDEE The Binnies, [John crossed out & Henry written above] Henry, David, Robert, and Alexander, accompanied by their mother, Allison Binnie, left Linlithgowshire, Scotland, in 1848, and immigrated to the United States, where they settled just north of Dundee, in Kane county, Illinois. Many descendants of these original four boys continue to live in Kane County; thus it behooves Robert BINNIE, of Chicago, and Stanley COWAN, of Dundee, to organize this first reunion, to which you are cordially invited. Please advise all of your ÒBinnie-sideÓ kinfolk about this reunion, as we may miss sending some of them an invitation. First thing on the agenda will be church at the Dundee Congregational Church at 10:40 A. M. Most all Binnies early affiliated with this church, and you are urged to join with your kinfolk for this Sunday worship hour. You are most welcome, dressed in your picnic clothes, at 10:40 A. M. Second: On Route 31, three miles south of Dundee, at the west end area of the Tyler Creek Forest Preserve, we will gather for our picnic dinner and reunion. Although the area has no shelter house, there are good tables and toilet facilities. Each householder will bring silverware, dishes, and cups, their own meat sandwiches, dish to pass, and cake. Each householder will be assessed $1.00 for cream, sugar, salt, pepper, coffee, ice cream and soft drinks, which your local committee will have at the area in ample supply. We chose Sunday, June 21, as that is also the final date for the nationally famous Boy Scout pageant, ÒSong Of HiawathaÓ. You may obtain your tickets by mail from Boy Scout headquarters, 171 E. Chicago St., Elgin, Illinois. Adult reserved seats are $1.85. Children, $1.10. Be sure to ask for the evening of June 21, for your reservation. We urge you to attend. ÒHiawathaÓ is wonderful! Please mail us the enclosed postal card if you plan to join us, so we can plan for you. Please come.
