Last Will
of
Uriah Amerson

The State of Alabama
Montgomery County
March 10, 1848


Know all men by these Presents that I Uriah Amerson in my Last will and Testament bequeath to Betsy Amerson my lawful wife the South East quarter of the North west quarter of section seventeen in Township fifteen of Range nineteen also to continue in the dividing line of the Section to the stake & and from the stake west Seventy three yards then north Eighty one yards to the stake then west including all the hammock to G Wheeler Land. The above name lands to be used at the discretion for or suport & at her death to revert to Sons Rufus Amerson & Elisha Amerson I gave also to my wife Betsy all the corn & fodder one bay horse Selim Saddle & bridle two beds & furniture all the cooking utensils all the pultry on the place one cow & calf one sow & pigs Six head of sheep also all the bacon for the use of the plantation remaining in????ted One plow & Gear One Spinning wheel & cards also one reel one bureau & table cubbord and furniture one clock & one Loom.

To my Son Elisha Amason
The South forty of the East half of the South west quarter of Section Seventeen in Township fifteen of Range nineteen Also one gray horse called Shaddock one cow & calf one sow & pigs one plow & Gear one bed and furniture and to have support from the plantation the present year.

To my Son rufus Amason
The remaining forty acres of the East half of the South west quarter of Section Seventeen in Township fifteen of Range nineteen. Also one bay horse and Saddle one plow & gear one Sow & pigs one bed & furniture one Cow & calf and support from the plantation for the present year.

To my daughter Mary Porter
Six head of sheep ewes or ten dollars

To P B Porters Children
Six head of sheep or the worth of them in money or ten Dollars

To My Son Mathew Amason
Ten dollars Due also fifteen dollars more or less on a settlement

The remainder of the property to be sold to defray debts and the balance of the money to be distributed equally between the remainder of my heirs not provided for in the will Also the forty acres of Land that Mathew Amason lives on to be sold and distributed in the same way

I as the distributor of my Estate in This my last will and Testament hereby call on Elisha Amason & Betsy Amason as Executor & Executrix to my Estate

Personally appeared before me Hugh W Watson clerk of the County Court of said William Barnes Green E. Wheeler Jos J Wright and G M Cash subscribing witnesses to the Last will and Testament of Uriah Amason deceased who on their oaths etc say that they Saw Uriah Amason whose name appears to the forgoing instrument Sign and seal the same as his last will and Testament That he was at the time of a Sound disposing mind and memory that they Signed the Same as witnesses in the preseance of and at the request of the Testator and in the presence of each other.
