Our search has only begun to find the shadows of our ancestors' steps upon this earth.
This place, these pages, are a gathering of many, many cousins and their efforts, their contributions. We are working together, searching courthouses, transcribing records, decoding cryptic notes on the backs of faded photographs, stepping through cemeteries to find sometimes moss covered or broken stones, discovering the faint trails and clues that allow us to begin to tell the stories of the days of our ancestors.
It was the decisions and choices of our ancestors that have, collectively, led us to the places we inhabit today and the opportunities with which we are presented, to make our own decisions and choices that will lay the way for our progeny. The stories here are meant as an honoring, a celebration, of the lives of our grandmothers and grandfathers, all our relations.

and Elizabeth Shipley and Eliza Sartain
This is the family of one of my grandmother's great grandmother's family, Catherine Mauk, and the descendants of Catherine's siblings who were the sons and daughters of George Mauk and Elizabeth Shipley and Eliza Sartain. This family story contains much ongoing controversy and research with many continued mysteries, and record of a very early (1865) granted divorce. An interesting family to study...

I would like to extend a special Front Page THANKS to Debbie Coulter. While researching and contributing substantial Deweese Family records (her husband's line), she has also been instrumental in my research of the McCoy and Mauk families. Debbie has generously and graciously located and assisted in my acquisition of many Barren and Metcalfe County Kentucky records for these families. Debbie has also been an untiring and "brutal" editor, ferreting out my typos and misspellings and bringing them to my attention.
Thank you Debbie Coulter!
And, in case you were wondering, I have added "A Little About Me"...
