"Alishea,
Good to hear from you. I found several databases on World Connect showing David's father being Samuel. I knew that Viola Brown was from Hardin Co., Tennessee so David and family were probably living there also in order for them to meet. David, Viola and there first three children are living in Blue Cane, Clay Co., AR on the 1900 census.
The 1880 Hardin Co., Tennessee census shows the following family:
Nancy Durham 40 TN TN AL
Julia 18 TN TN TN
David 13 TN TN TN
Samuel 12 TN TN TN
Thaopolous 11 TN TN TN
Hoaks 10 TN TN TN
John 9 TN TN TN
Sarah 8 TN TN TN
Colubus 2 TN TN TN
The 1870 District 12, Giles Co., census shows the following family:
Saml Dirinn 40 TN
Nancy 27 TN
Julia 10 TN
Jane 10 TN
David 6 TN
Samuel 2 TN
Thoopholis 10/12 TN
The enumerator spelled the name incorrectly but this is obviously the same family. Giles is three counties to the east of Hardin Co. I looked for the family in 1860 but the only Samuel Durhams living in Tennesse were a single 34 year old Samuel A. Durham working in the household of Wm. F. Abernathy as a laborer and a 14 year Samuel Durham living with his parents Robert and Elizabeth Durham. Both of these were in Giles County. The older Samuel could be our Samuel but his twin daughters, Julia and Jane were 10 years old in 1870 so Samuel should be newly married in 1860. Maybe the census was taken before he married and the twins were only 9 years old in 1870 as is reflected by Julia's age of 18 in 1880. I could not find a Samuel Durham on the 1850 Tennesse census that fit. I do believe that this is David Crockett Durham's family.
By the way, my connection to the Durham's is through my wife, Janet YATES Raper. She is the daughter of the late Leonard Boyd Yates of Monette, AR who was the younger brother of Fonnie Yates who married Ethel Durham, the daughter of David Crockett Durham. Can you tell me how you tie into the family? Can you sen me a list of Pete Durham's children and their pertenant dates?
Regards,
David Raper."

This is the only information I have tying this family to David Crockett. The time, place, and age of the David listed is right for my David Crockett.

"Alishea,
Good to hear from you.

Samuel 2 TN

By the way, my connection to the Durham's is through my wife, Janet YATES Raper. She is the daughter of the late Leonard Boyd Yates of Monette, AR who was the younger brother of Fonnie Yates who married Ethel Durham, the daughter of David Crockett Durham. Can you tell me how you tie into the family? Can you sen me a list of Pete Durham's children and their pertenant dates?
Regards,
David Raper."
Received listing in an email from David Raper

This is the only information I have tying this family to David Crockett. The time, place, and age of the David listed is right for my David Crockett.

Colubus DURHAM

1CENSUS US Federal 1880, 10 JAN 2005.
PLACE Tennessee, Hardin County.
"Alishea,
Good to hear from you.
Regards,
David Raper."
