Mrs. Margaret E. Barrett died early Wednesday morning, in a Norfolk hospital, death being due to a heart attack. She had sustained a fractured hip about a month ago and was thought to be getting along well. She planned to come home soon, but last Saturday began to weaken. Her husband, J.M. Barrett, preceded her in death in 1924, and one son, Walter, died overseas during World War. Mrs. Barrett was born Feb. 3, 1863 near Monmouth, Illinois. She was married to J.M. Barrett in Mills County, Iowa on Jan. 19, 1882. To this union were born six children, two of whom, Walter, who died in the World War, and James Allen who died as a small child, preceded their parents in death. Those surviving are Rayburn L. of Omaha, William R. of Node, Wyoming, Edith M. Barrett of Wayne and Mrs. Ruth Hatfield of Plainview, besides one granddaughter, Maxine Barrett, who made her home with the departed. Mrs. Barrett was a long time resident of Wayne Co., having lived in Wayne about 20 years and the county thirty or forty years. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church and Ladies Aid. Being a Gold Star mother, she also was interested in the American Legion auxillary.
