David A. Tate was born July 12, 1859 to Gersham W. and Harriet Tate and died in 1937 north of Brookfield, MO. David married Etta May Lewis on February 14, 1888 in Sullivan Co., MO. Etta was born on June 29, 1868 to Richard and Caroline (Merryman) Lewis and died January 21, 1934 at her home in Linneus, MO. David and Etta had two sons born to them, Charles and Richard Gersham. David was a member of the Oddfellows or IOOF Lodge of Linneus. Family members have told me that he used a team for hirer and delivered lumber for the lumber yard in Linneus, MO. Also another member told me that he would sit down and read from the family bible every day.
