BERTHA MAY (MORRIS) TATE

Bertha May, daughter of William E. and Anna Eliza Morris, was born on August 18, 1895, and passed away on February 3, 1962, at the age of sixty-six years. She had lived in Linn County virtually all her life. She was a member of the Morris Chapel Church throughout her entire adult life. In 1912, she was united in marriage with Richard G. Tate. To this union were born thirteen children, eleven of whom survive, five sons and six daughters. A daughter, Mary Caroline, died in 1924 at the age of two, an infant son in 1930. Also surviving are a brother, Edgar Morris of Purdin, two sisters, Mrs. Joe Edmundson of Linneus, and Mrs. George Phillips of Kansas City, 24 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Her life was one of courage, patience and faithful devotion. Funeral services were held at the Wade Funeral Home, at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 6, 1962. The song service was provided by Mrs. James Morris, Mrs. Noel High, Mrs. Junior Phillips, and Mrs. Billy Morris. Casket bearers were Loren Owens, Ben Creason, L. M. Kimbrough, Junior Phillips, Bert Edmundson and Rolan Gooch. Burial was made in the Morris Chapel Cemetery.
