         The Indexing Project

The Aufbau Indexing Project was created so that German-Jewish researchers could easily locate the notices of birth, engagement, marriage, death as well as of other special occasions. The object of this project is to index all of these announcements from the beginning of the paper in 1934 to the present.

Over the sixty-eight year history of this newspaper there have been at least 150,000 announcements placed in Aufbau. It is likely that all German-Jewish researchers can find at least a few announcements that would be of personal interest to them. For each of us to individually search through 150,000 announcements is impractical. A few dedicated volunteers have been working on this project, but they alone cannot complete it. Many more volunteers are needed in order for this project to become a complete success.

Please join our effort. A spreadsheet program is all that is required.
