Headed - Arnaldus Abbot on the land of Duueglas with division.
Translation: - Abbott Arnald with the convent of Kalk sends greetings to all sons and followers of holy Mother Church. Know that we with our common council have given granted and by this our present charter have confirmed Theobald Flamatico and his heirs in our land of Duueglas by its right divisions from the ditch of Polnele up to the water of Duglax and from the ditch of Polnele beyond its customary width and length from there to the Hirdelau from there to Theuifford in Mosminin Elcorroc and thus along to the black ford and so as the road runs to Crosseford. In fee and heritage freely and peacefully fully and honorably in mills waters stanks woods planes fields meadows and in all other easements rendering annually two merks on at the feast of St. Martins and the other at Pentecost. October 9, 1437: [Dunscore] Instrument taken in the hands of Thomas de Burn, presbyter of the diocese of Glasgow, notary public, at the instance of Gilbert Grierson, lord of Lag, on a letter of confirmation dated at Kilmauris Martinmas 1419 by Robert de Cunningham, lord of Kilmaurs, confirming a letter of wedset in the following terms, viz. – “Be it kend till all me be thir presentes letters me John Durand, lord of betwixt the Waters till have wedsette all my landis of Glenschynelle with the pertinence, lyand within the lordschipe of Glencarne in the schirevedome of Drumfres till Gilboune Grersoune my systersone for four and twenty nobles of gold lent me in my grete myster to my rannsome: Quherfor I giffe and grannttis the said landis with all manere of profits that pertenis to thame or may pertene in tyme to cum from me and myne ayris to the said Giboune his ayris exectutoris and assignes quhil that I or myne ayris male gottin of my body pay the foresaid soume upon a day in the kyrke of Troquere but fraude and gile to the said Giboune or his certane assignes. The recent petition of William Mulikyn, perpetual vicar in the church of St. Andrew in Scotland, contained that John Wallete, clerk, of the diocese of Glasgow, falsely alleging that he owed him certain sums of money, brought him before David Moldrum, official of St. Andrews, who wrongfully proceeding in the cause, promulgated and unjust definitive sentence in favour of the said John and against the said William, from which the latter has appealed to the apostolic see. The pope, therefore, hereby orders the above three to summon the said John and others concerned, grant the said William conditional absolution from any sentence of excommunication which may have been pronounced against him, hear both sides, etc. At St. Peter’s Rome.
