The Parish of Carrickfergus
The parish of Carrickfergus also known as St. Nicolas is bounded by the parishes of Carnmoney, Ballynure, Raloo, Templecorran and Kilroot. The earliest records pertaining to the parish belong to St. Nicolas’s Church of Ireland and date from 1740. There are baptisms covering 1740 to 1799, and 1822 to 1875, marriages from 1740 to 1845, and burials from 1740 to 1800 and 1825 to 1870. First Carrickfergus Presbyterian Church has baptisms from 1823 to 1901, marriages 1823 to 1905, whilst the Joymount or Second Presbyterian Church only has baptism from 1852. The Methodist Church of Ireland has baptisms dating from 1815, and the Congregational Church had baptism from 1819 and marriages from 1824.
