In their Irish Guide to Church Records in Northern Ireland, the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland list for the City of Belfast 3 Baptist Churches, 4 Congregational Churches, 39 Church of Irelands, 25 Methodist Churches, 5 Non-Subscribing Churches and 35 Presbyterian Churches. Of these, only three pre-date 1800, St. Anne’s Cathedral, Rosemary Street Non-Subscribing Presbyterian Church, and Rosemary Street Presbyterian Church. St. Anne’s Cathedral has the earliest baptismal, marriages and burial registers dating from 1745. After 1812, the old St. Anne’s burial ground was reclaimed and built over. The Belfast city burial ground moved to the New Cemetery.
