SOME MYSTERY PHOTOGRAPHS
The photographs on this page are believed by their owners to show people from Stanley, but there is some uncertainty about this, and we cannot positively identify the people pictured. If anyone can help clarify things please let me know.

| This photograph of a group of miners was taken in the 1950s. It is thought to be of Stanley Colliery, but when I made enquiries of local people they were not sure about this. The owner of the photograph has connections to the Whitby family and thought that the man standing on the far right was Joe Whitby - however doubt has also been cast on this identification. | |

| This school photo is said to include Mary Fisher of Stanley who was born in 1870 - the date is therefore mid 1870s. However Mary is known to have attended both Stanley and Dale Abbey schools at different times so we cannot be sure which this is. | |

| These two photographs belonged to someone with connections to the Wileman, Wheatley and Fisher families of Stanley. The date of the photo on the left is believed to be about 1874. But who are the people picured? | |
