HOW TO NAVIGATE THIS SITE
The family tree pages can be entered in one of three ways:
1) From "The ancestors of Alan William Bloor" - clicking on a hyperlinked individual will take you to the page on which that person's family is listed. Click on our common ancestor if you know that you are related to me.
2) From the "Surnames List (Direct Ancestors)" - this lists all the surnames making up my ancestry, and which town or village they came from. Use this route if you think you might be from the same line - clicking on a surname will take you to the root of the tree.
3) From the "Supplementary Surnames List" - these are surnames I've researched because they have married into my family - browse this list of names, dates and places and check out any that you think might link into your family.

Each page consists of one family group (father, wive(s) and children). Where these are known, I have listed the date and place of birth, baptism, marriage and death for each individual.
When a parent's name is hyperlinked, following the link will take you back a generation. Following a hyperlink on a child's name will take you forward a generation.
Some pages also have hyperlinks to additional information and / or photographs. To return to the page you came from use the "Back" button on your browser.
Every page also has an "ABORT" button in case you get lost or bored - this will take you back to the index page.

THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW
1. Genealogical research is not always an exact science. As you go further back in time the records become more vague and you sometimes have to make an educated guess as to whether the person you're looking at is part of your tree or not. Sometimes, one person's near - certainty can be another's slight possibility! I have tried on this site to make it clear how confident I am that the information is correct, but sometimes I have had to make assumptions, particularly when tracing families forward through census returns. In those instances, I have made the assumption that when a person is found on two censuses with the same name, birthplace and calculated year of birth, then they are in fact the same person. If anyone finds any mistakes or believes any of my assumptions are wrong, please let me know - I will be pleased rather than offended! In any case I would strongly advise anyone related to these lines to verify the information for themselves.
2. All dates are expressed using the British convention ie. 12/7/1800 is 12th July not 7th December.
3. I have not made any distinction between date of death and date of burial - in each case (and certainly with people who died before 1837) the date given in the death column could be a burial date.
4. Where a date is given as a year only, it has been taken from an index eg. the GRO index, or is from family memory. Where there is a ? by the date the family memory is a bit fuzzy! Where a year of birth is given in brackets, it has been calculated from an age given on another document eg. census return or death certificate.
5. I have only included information on this website for which I can claim at least some of the credit for looking it up. I have other data on the CLAY and EXTON families which was passed on to me by other genealogists, but which I've not published because I did none of the hard work myself. If anyone is interested in these two surnames, please see the "Acknowledgments" page on this site.
6. This is an evolving website - when I discover something new I will update the information, so please keep coming back.
7. Finally, please e mail me if
