I was born at smedley avenue Ilkeston in 1951- My parents moved to Stanley village approx 1952 - Gordon and Margaret Wheatley Coronation Road. My father died Nov 13th 2005 aged 75 - he is buried in Stanley Church yard - He worked for 35 years down the coal mines - Stanley was his first Pit. My Father also told me that his grandmother worked as a teacher at Dale church school. I myself lived in Stanley until I married in 1973 and moved to Burton On Trent

My great grandmother was Mary Hart who is pictured on your site with my grandmother Frances Eleanor. My mother and I have enjoy looking at the site today and have traced her family through the picture. We have wedding photos of Frances Eleanor and some of the sisters when they were older if you would like a copy to add to the site.

Fantastic site, we moved away from Stanley when I was only 10 years old (46 now) but I do have fond memories of it... My mother was a HART and I found my grandfather on there too. will have to spend more time tracing my tree back..... Simon

Comments:What a splendid site - it is proving very helpful - sepecially the Bishops transcripts for Stanley. I am descended from Joseph Frearson born in Stanley in about 1777. He moved to Lincolnshire with [i assume a brother Thomas born 1773 also in Stanley]. Am now researching the Derbyshire Frearsons - and in particular the Stanley residence period. Pleased to contact anyone with further knowledge of the period.

Comments:I have a GGG grandmother Eliza Hart(shorn) that through census records we determined was born in Stanley. In the 1851 census I found a visitor living with her named Patience Hart, I could never figure out who Patience was. Your site has cleared this up for me. It has given me a direction which to look. If anyone has any other information about Eliza Hart(shorn) who married William Ginnever in 1844 please email me.

Comments:A very interesting site both my husband and I have found relatives originating fron Stanley. My grandmother is the daughter of Walter Daniels and Phyllis Clarke and was born in Stanley circa 1912 and is still alive and well. My great uncle was Dick Daniels and his twin brother Jack passed away last week. My husbands grandmother was Nellie Cross who had relatives in Stanley and Stanley Common who we believe were cousins. I could put you in touch with my grandmother who at 91 is still very alert.
