LONGDEN FAMILY (of Stanley Common)

This is the wedding photograph of John Robert ("Bob") Longden and Peggy Stanley. The wedding was at St. Susanna's church in Horsley Woodhouse (Peggy's parish) on 25th March 1950. Bob Longden was from Stanley Common - he lived at 15 Browns Row with his mother and sister Anne Louisa Longden. His father, Walter Longden, died in 1940. The best man is Eric Hurst, and the little boy in front of Bob is his sister's son Michael Sellers.

Bob Longden was born on 14th April 1926. His parents were Walter Longden and Sarah (nee Scott) - this is a photograph taken when he was about 3 years old.	Bob played football for Stanley Common FC and for Derby Reserves - he is seen here in the middle of the front row, but it is not known which of the two teams this is.

Bob and Peggy's children outside their house at 20 The Crescent, Stanley Common. They lived there from 1950 to 1965. Bob worked at Mapperley Colliery, but in 1965 he moved to North Nottinghamshire. He died there on 12th January 1991, and Peggy died on 4th April 2002.
