The CHARGE family of Cleasby, NRY
The CHARGE family from whom I descend appear to have lived around the border between the North Riding of Yorkshire and Durham, since at least the late 1600s when our earliest confirmed ancestor John CHARGE married Margaret WILSON in Coniscliffe, DUR in 1680. Their first 6 children were christened in Coniscliffe, however the birth or christening dates or places of their remaining children remain unknown. I know from the Cleasby parish register, and his headstone, that their youngest son, Richard, was born in 1699 or 1700. Various branches of the family lived in Barton, Piercebridge, Middleton Tyas and a number of small villages in the area, and some still do.
I would like to thank Pat Parkin, another CHARGE descendant, who kindly spent many hours in the archives finding and copying pages of the various parish registers.
