• Birth and Background

  Mahaly was born 1836-1837 in Hopkins County, Kentucky to Jesse R. Vinson and Mahaley Leggitt. She was obviously named after her mother. As a young girl, she moved with her parents to Tishomingo County, Mississippi.

We don't know that much about the Odom family. James was born about 1823 in Alabama and is beleived to be the son of Littleberry Odom and Mary 'Polly' Cochran who married September 20, 1822 Maury County, Tennessee.
