1815, -March - Franklin Co, NC (Petition of Jacob Jones (S.C))
Jacob Jones petitioned the March 1815 Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions, reciting that his father, Council Jones, departed this life on or about Mar 1805 after first making his last Will and Testament, wherein, among other things, he provided the tract of land whereon he then lived to his wife during her life, and after hear death to be equally parted between his four sons, Jacob, Allen, Council and James, and that his mother hath lately departed this life, whereby it becomes proper that the said land should be parted. Said land was situated in Franklin Co.,N.C.,on the north side of Tar River on both sides of Pumpkin Run. The original of this petition is extant and bears the signature of Jacob Jones .STATE OF N. CAROLINA) Pursuant to an order issued from the FRANKLIN Co., worshipful Court of the Co., of Franklin, we, the undersigned Commissioners, together with the Co., Surveyor ........ laid off into four lots, viz:
Lot No. 1. Drawn by Council Jones„ Jr containing 84.5 acres and valued at $320.00;All of which is respectfully submitted. Given under our hands and seals this the 31st day of March 1815.Lot No. 2. Drawn by Allen Jones„ containing 72.25acres valued at $120.00;
Lot No. 3. Drawn by James Jones„ containing 76.25acres valued at $253.33; and
Lot No. 4, drawn by Jacob Jones , containing 83 acres and valued at $269.75. We further adjudge that Council Jones„ pay to Allen Jones„ the sum of $79.22, and that James Jones„ pay unto Allen Jones„ the sum of $12.56, and that Jacob Jones„ pay unto Allen Jones„ the sum of $29.0

James D. Jones sold a tract of land that previously belonged to Council Jones, deceased. Witnessed by Joshua Jones and Jacob Jones (S.C.)
James D. Jones drew land in the Lottery in 1821, this fell in Early Co., the 28th district. (This may have been purchased by Allen Jones-his brother--accounting for the extra tract sold to Seaborn Jones.
