Lifelong Residents of County Enjoy Day With Family

Mr. and Mrs. Harry McKay spent a happy day Sunday when they celebrated their golden wedding with Dear family. They had planned no observances of the important occasion other than family dinner. For the affair, their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Marion McKay, brought dinner, which included a tiered and decorated wedding cake. The entire family with the exception of the McKay's daughter, Mrs. Gail Clevenger, of Coulee Dam, Wash., was present. Mrs. Clevenger, her husband and their son, David, sent messages which were read.

Colored movies of the family were taken by Russell Weighmire, of Engelwood, Dayton, who was present at the party and who showed other pictures he had taken.

Mr. and Mrs. Marion McKay, children, Mary Ellen and Robert, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest McKay, Elvin McKay, Mrs. and Mrs. Weighmire made up the anniversary party with Mr. and Mrs. Harry McKay.

The McKays lived the first 15 years of their marriage on their farm in Chester Township and have resided for 35 years in Wilmington.

Mrs. McKay was Lida Rabb, daughter of Mrs. Sarah A. Rabb, of near Center, and the wedding took place at her home. Mr. McKay has been a farmer, he was county commissioner from 1909 to 1913 and state representative from 1916 to 1920. Besides this agricultural and political career Mr. McKay operated an automobile agency which he gave up when ill health made his retirement advisable. Sunday he thoroughly enjoyed the day and was able to be about.

A poem written by Frank McKay, his cousin and roommate at Ohio Wesleyan University, Delaware, just after the McKay's wedding 50 years ago, was reread Sunday at the golden wedding and applauded by the children of the fortunate couple.
