
1945 Letter from William J. T. Jurey
April 29, 1945 - Clifton, Kansas"Dear Aunt Kate & Cousin Jessie & family
Just a few lines to let you know that mother passed away April 19 at 1:15 the funeral Services was the following Monday afternoon Should of written sooner but seems there was so much to see to & so many around just couldn’t get to it. She hasn’t been very well sence Christmas. She had been in bed most of the time for the last 4 or 5 weeks. But she sat up a while the day before she died. Her heart has been bad for some time & it just gave away. Don’t think she suffered very much. She sure was a good mother and we sure will miss her, but what is our loss will be heavens gain. She sure had a lot of friends. There sure was a lot of flowers also. Those that came from Norton Co. was Nettie & family Ernie, Ethel, Jria (?) . Lula Nettie daughter & her Husband. Mother soon would of been 83 in June. How are allof you folks. How are Johns and Fred. Sure would like to see some of you folks once more. It has been years sence we have been together.
Our boy is in the army it soon will be 3 years he is O.K. yet. He is out fighting the Japs. He has been along on 5 missions now. At present he is on Okinawa Sure hope this old war will be over before long.
Edith & Ruth are working in Topeka. & Opal is teaching School. Help sure is scarce here now. Our crops look fine so far the ground sure is wet.
