He sold it to the Langhornes of Gibson Girl fame, and they lived there for many years. Since the original construction, the house has been remodeled twice. James M. Bowen was the father of Mary Stark Bowen who married Oliver Ridgeway Funsten January 10, 1854 Albemarle County, Virginia. Oliver was the s/o Oliver Robert Funsten and Margaret McKay, gs/o Andrew MacKay and Jane Ridgeway, and gt gs/o Patience Job and Robert MacKay Jr. Almost directly across the road from Mirador, is the Emmanuel Episcopal Church and Cemetery that many of this branch of our family attended church and are buried.
