OUR DOUBLE COUSINS

Elizabeth Davis married Lewis Laurance (later spelled Lawrence) about 1823 somewhere in the Smith Co., TN area. Both Cheryl and I are also Laurance descendants. Lewis was the s/o William Laurance/Lawrence who left a will dated Sept 25, 1838 in Smith Co., TN.

Cheryl descends from Pharis Laurance while I descend from Thomas Laurance. Both were brothers to Lewis Laurance who married Elizabeth Davis.

"Shenandoah Co, Va court records regarding the settlement of John Froman Overall's estate was signed by LEWIS LAWRNECE, Benj. WOOD, and John BOYD."

July 1833 - Smith Co., TN

"LEWIS LAWRENCE sold land to Thomas HUNT on Smith Fork. This deed was witnessed in July of 1833 by Hardy HUNT."

October 22, 1838 - DeKalb Co., TN Deed Book A, pp. 188-189

"John DAVIS to LEWIS LAWRNECE 150 acres on Hannah's Branch of ...and including the plantation whereon the said Lewis now lives"

June 1838 - DeKalb Co., TN Court Minutes

"Thomas HUNT was appointed overseer on Smith Fork Road from the ford of the creek at the mouth of Dismal down to to the ford at John REYNOLDS' shop and had as his hands "Solomon DAVIS, Pharis LAWRENCE, LEWIS LAWRENCE, Isaac TAYLOR, Randal PAFFORD, Asa DRIVER, and Abner SELF, etc.".

"shows Lewis with 130 improved acres of land and 275 unimproved acres of land. Cash value of farm is $2000. Value of farming implements/machinery is $150. He had 3 horses, 1mule, 2 mulch cows, 2 working oxen, 5 other cattle, 40 sheep, 75 swine, Value of livestock is listed at $361. Plus he has 25 bushels of wheat and 1250 bushels of corn."
