He stated that Charles Hammonds died intestate in 1817 owning 600 acres joining Boyakin Taylor, Hardy Wood, Green Walker & others, that the land is subject to a division among the heirs: The sd WILLIAM, JESSE, WILLOUGHBY, PATSEY, POLLY HAMMONDS, all minors except sd William; the dec'd also held personal property, all which came into the possession of Callum Moore admr; that ABBE HAMMONDS the widow has received her dower. Each is to receive 1/5 part. December Court, Franklin County.
Elizabeth and Willoughby married November 14, 1828 Franklin Co., NC. His brother, William M. Willoughby posted bond for their marriage. Willoughby's father, Charles, had died in 1817. She and Willoughby had three children. Willoughby died about 1837 in Franklin Co., NC.
LeRoy Denton
I don't know a whole lot about Leroy's family. He was born about 1814 in North Carolina and is beleived to have died between 1880-1891 in Henry Co., TN. He and Elizabeth, a young widow with three children, were married October 1, 1839 Franklin Co., North Carolina. They had two daughters.After Elizabeth's death in the 1860's, Leroy married Martha and had another son, William Leroy Denton born September 1, 1877 in Henry Co., Tennessee.
